A method is suggested to prepare catalyst for the synthesis of hydrocarbons from carbon monoxide and hydrogen by precipitating the carbonates of metals contained in the catalyst, for example, cobalt, magnesium, thorium. Precipitation is carried out from the solutions of the metal nitrates. In order to produce highly active catalysts, the initial nitrate solutions are exposed to magnetic field. Magnetic induction is equal to 14-0.16 вб/m2, a number of pole pairs is 21-35.
