PURPOSE: To obtain a fuel fraction corresponding to gasoline, kerosene, and light oil fractions in high selectivity, suppressing the by-production of gaseous component and high-boiling component, by contacting a mixed gas of H2 and CO with an Ru catalyst supported on a carrier composed of zeolite and alumina.
CONSTITUTION: The objective hydrocarbon is produced by contacting a mixed gas containing H2 and CO with a catalyst obtained by supporting usually 0.1- 10 pts.wt. of Ru on 100 pts.wt. of a carrier composed of a mixture of zeolite and alumina (the weight ratio of zeolite to alumina is preferably 10:90-90:10). The reaction is carried out at an H2/CO molar ratio of 1.0-2.5 at 220-330oC under 5-30 atm gauge at a feed gas velocity of 200-5,000 hr-1 per unit volume of the catalyst and unit time.
