Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain hydrocarbons in high yield, by converting a mixed gas of CO and H2 in the presence of a catalyst containing iron (compound) supported on a carrier containing manganese oxide, etc. CONSTITUTION: A mixed gas of CO and H2 is catalytically reacted in the presence of a catalyst containing iron (compound) in an amount of usually about 0.1-40 wt% expressed in terms of iron supported on a carrier containing manganese oxide or vanadium oxide usually at 150-450oC temperature under 5-200 kg/cm2 pressure and about 100-10,000 hr-1 superficial velocity on the gas basis to give >= 2 C, preferably 5-20 C hydrocarbons. The above-mentioned catalyst is prepared by dipping a carrier containing the manganese oxide or vanadium oxide in an aqueous solution containing an iron compound, e.g. ferric nitrate, ferric chloride or ammonium ferrous citrate, impregnating the carrier with the solution, and supporting the oxide thereon. |
