Abstract PURPOSE: In the production of hydrocarbons by catalytic reactions between carbon monoxide and hydrogen, a ruthenium-mordenite catalyst which is prepared in a specified manner is used to produce 4 C hydrocarbon fractions used as a starting material in petrochemical industry with very high selectivity. CONSTITUTION: Mordenite, as a support, is dipped in a solution of a ruthenium compound to effect ion exchange or evaporation to dryness to prepare a catalyst of ruthenium supported on mordenite. Or ruthenium carbonyl is sublimed or evaporated to condense on mordenite to give the above catalyst. The catalytic reaction of hydrogen with carbon monoxide is effected using the above catalyst under Fisher-Tropsch reaction conditions to inhibit the formation of undesirable heavy wax and produce the C4 hydrocarbon fraction in specifically high selectivity. |
