Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain hydrocarbons having the boiling point in the range of that of gasoline in high conversion in high yield, by bringing synthesis gas into contact with a catalyst composition comprising crystalline zeolite, iron, ruthenium and rhodium.

CONSTITUTION: The desired hydrocarbons are obtained by reacting synthesis gas (preferably a mixed gas of CO and H2 obtained by gasifying coal, etc.) preferably at 250-450oC at 20-100 kg/cm2 in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising (A) crystalline zeolite (preferably ZSM type zeolite having pore diameters of 5-9oCA and a molar ratio of silica to alumina of >=12), (B) iron, and (C) ruthenium and/or rhodium. Preferably the amount of the component B is 5-80 wt% calculated as iron oxide and the amount of the component C is 0.1-5 wt% based on the total amounts of the component A and iron oxide respectively.
