NTIS ORDER NO.: DE90005524INW ABSTRACT: The product distributions of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis on a cobalt catalyst were studied in a continuous-flow, well-stirred slurry reactor at 220 to 240(degree)C and 0.5 to 1.5 MPa. Synthesis gas with H(sub 2)/CO ratios between 1.5 and 3.5 was fed to the reactor over a wide range of space velocities yielding conversions of H(sub 2) between 6 and 68% and conversions of CO between 11 and 73%. The hydrocarbon products from a cobalt catalyst, a fused iron catalyst, and a potassium- and copper-promoted, precipitated iron catalyst were compared. Although differences exist in the C(sub 1)-C(sub 6) fraction, the C(sub 10)(sub +) fraction is somewhat similar for these catalysts. 30 refs., 13 figs.
