ABSTRACT:

Two general models for the kinetics of coal liquefaction have been developed. Rate constants (including temperature dependence and catalytic effects) for both of these models have been determined for the available kinetic data. Computer programs for the finite-difference solution of the dynamic dispersion models for both the bubble-column and the ebullated-bed coal-liquefaction reactors and associated preheaters have been written; these programs are now being tested. The steady-state simulation of the two processes is being studied, with preliminary success for the reactor units. (ERA citation 11:039461)
