ABSTRACT:

A method has been developed for calculating the three parameters needed to characterize the carbon number distribution of products of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. using non-linear regression, experimental data are fit by a modified Schulz-Flory model which has two chain growth probabilities. Excellent fit is shown for data from precipitated and fused iron catalysts. The model is used to calculate selectivity information of interest in catalyst comparison and reactor design. Advantages of this model over asymptotic regression methods are discussed in detail. 26 refs., 6 figs. (ERA citation 13:030172)
