TITLE: Deactivation by Carbon of Iron Catalysts for Indirect Liquefaction: Annual Technical Progress Report, September 15, 1986-September 14, 1987. AUTHOR: C. H. Bartholomew. INST. NTIS ORDER NO.: DE88002722/INW ABSTRACT: Progress was made in the design and construction of a computer-automated reactor system to be used in the kinetic and deactivation studies. A new HP5890 chromatograph was ordered and received as part of this system. Kinetic data for CO hydrogenation on two samples of unsupported, unpromoted iron (reduced at 300 and 400 sup 0 C respectively) were obtained as functions of temperature and time. The activity/selectivity data are consistent with those previously reported for supported, unpromoted iron. 49 refs., 18 figs., 9 tabs.
