NTIS ORDER NO.: DE90016750INW ABSTRACT: The objectives of this program are to implement and test the process improvements identified through the engineering studies of the current program, to demonstrate the capability of long-term catalyst activity maintenance, and to perform process and design engineering work that can be applied to a scaled-up Liquid Phase Methanol (LPMEOH*) facility. An optional series of runs on the Process Development Unit (PDU) is offered to extend the testing of the process improvements. This quarter: PDU operations were completed in March and the plant is being mothballed. The development of a fundamental reaction rate model on BASF S3-85 catalyst was started. Rate expressions derived from a dual-site Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism are being tested using a non-linear regression technique to find the best fit. Process variable scans on BASF S3-86 catalyst with a simulated Dow gas have been completed. Two runs with a total of 36 data points covering 14 different sets of conditions were investigated. The installation of a 300 cc autoclave in the coal gas clean-up unit has been completed. 6 figs., 4 tabs. REPORT NUMBER: DOE/PC/90005-T20 CONTRACT NUMBER: AC22-87PC90005 |
