PATENT 3985. WORSHAM, C. H. (Standard Oil Development Co.). Method of Minimizing Ester Formation in Hydrocarbon Synthesis. United States Patene 2,537,178, Jan. 9, 1951; appl. filed Feb. 20, 1948, Serial No. 9,644; 5 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Steam introduced into the stream of hot reaction products immediately after it emerges from the reactor decreases the amount of ester (40%) in the final product and increases the yield of Low molecular weight acids (30%) and alcohols (40%) recoverable from the aqueous layer. The steam is added at substantially the same temperature and pressure as in the reaction zone. 1 literature ref. and 5 United States patents cited. |
