3930.   ------.  [WILCOX, W. D.]  Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.  United States Patent 1,905,326, Apr. 25, 1933; appl. filed June 28, 1930.  Chem. Abs., vol. 27, 1933, p. 3,567.

For converting hydrocarbon gases and vapors into a mixture of CO and H2 in the volumetric proportions of 1:2, respectively, there is added a volume of steam more than sufficient to oxidize the C content of the gases to CO and the mixture is passed through a conduit heated externally to >980° and the heating is continued until a dissociation of about 80% has been effected and there is added to the gases a volume of O2 enough to oxidize the C in the undercomposed residue of hydrocarbon gases to CO and to convert to H2O vapor all H2 in excess of 2 times the volume of CO.
