3912.   ------.  [WHITE, P. C.]  (Standard Oil Co. of Indiana).  Separation of Hydrocarbon-Synthesis Products.  United States Patent 2,501,115, Mar. 21, 1950; appl. filed Oct. 30, 1945, Serial No. 625,552, 5 claims (Cl. 260-450).  Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 5082.

Gaseous effluents from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis are cooled to 50°-250° F.  2 liquid phases form in the separator, aqueous and liquid hydrocarbons.  The uncondensed stream of rich gas goes over to a 2-phase absorber.  Organic oxygenated compounds are removed from the aqueous phase.  A lean absorber-oil fraction is recovered from the liquid-hydrocarbon phase.  The lean aqueous phase and the lean absorber-oil fraction are used with the gas phase.  Organic oxygenated compounds are absorbed in the aqueous phase, and the normally gaseous hydrocarbons selectively absorbed in the oil fraction.  6 United States patents cited.
