3895.   ------.  [WELTY, A. B.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Conversion of Hydrocarbon Gases to Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide.  United States Patent 2,550,742, May 1, 1951; appl. filed June 28, 1946, Serial No. 679,886; 5 claims (Cl. 48-196).

In the conversion of gaseous hydrocarbons to CO and H2 by passing the hydrocarbons over a fluidized mixture consisting of a metal oxide and a Ni-containing reformer catalyst, the catalyst mixture is withdrawn from the conversion zone and passed through a curved, confined path to cause a separation of the reduced catalyst from reformer catalyst by centrifugal action.  The reduced catalyst is passed to an oxidizing zone where it is reoxidized and both it and the reformer catalyst are returned to the conversion zone.  7 United States patents cited.
