Gives process for the synthesis of hydrocarbons from H₂ and CO in molecular ratio 2:1-1:1 at temperature 200°-350° C., using an Fe catalyst described in United States Patent 2,467,283 (abs.3867). The catalyst may be reduced with H₂ before used in the synthesis, or it may be reduced directly in the synthesis operation.
