Catalyst for the synthesis of organic compounds from CO and H₂ consists of ThO₂ and at least 1 metal from Group VIII in combination with an isomerizing and cracking component, mainly SiO₂ mixed with Al₂O₃ and/or ZrO₂. The improvement is the addition of the isomerizing and cracking component to the hydrogenating catalyst to obtain high-grade motor fuels.
