Fe catalysts are made by using Fe, Fe salts, or mineral Fe of any degree of purity with additions of small amounts (0.005-0.5%) of Cu, Ag, or Au by precipitating the solution or by thermal decomposition of the nitrate and subsequently impregnating with traces of alkali salts.
