CO is hydrogenated by using Fe catalysts suspended in fine division in a liquid medium, with a concentration of catalyst base metal of 100-300 gm. per l. of suspension, a catalyst load of 0.4-3 l. of synthesis gas per gm. of catalyst base metal per hr., and a catalyst grain size between ).005 and 1 mm.
