PATENT 3473. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.] Catalytic Synthesis of Hydrocarbons British Patent 616,499, Jan. 21, 1949. Chem. Abs., vol. 43, 1949, p. 4448. Liquid hydrocarbons can be synthesized in high yields by forcing a mixture of H2 and CO in 0.7 to 1.3 molar ratio through a fluidized mass of catalyst (Co and ThO2 on kieseguhr) in a single-stage reaction zone maintained under Fischer synthesis conditions of temperature and pressure, adding H2 to the reaction zone at spaced points to maintain the H2 to CO within 0.7 to 1.3 throughout the reaction zone. |
