PATENT 3472. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.] Catalytic Re-Forming of Hydrocarbon Oil. British Patent 542,925, Feb. 3, 1942. Chem. Abs., vol. 36, 1942, p. 5006. Catalyst in finely divided form is suspended in the oil vapors and recycled H2 before their introduction into the reaction zone, the ratio of catalyst to oil being at least 2:1 by weight. This process can be applied to hydrocarbon oils derived from any source. For example, fractions b. 100°-500° F. obtained from the products of destructive distillation, destructive hydrogenation, carbonization, or hydrogenation of coals, tars, mineral oils, shales, peats, lignites, bitumens, and carbonaceous materials, or hydrocarbon oils obtained by synthetic processes, such as the Fischer synthesis, may all be subjected to treatment by the process. |
