PATENT 3455. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.] alcohols From Olefins. British Patent 647,363, Dec. 13, 1950. Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 6654. Describes an improved process for controlling the temperature and maintaining a high concentration of the catalyst in the conversion of olefins to oxygenated compounds by means of CO and H2 with Fe and Co compounds as catalysts, by recirculating the product of the 1st stage of the reaction after cooling and removing the gases, thus providing a high concentration of catalyst at the reactor inlet so that the Oxo reaction proceeds throughout the length of the reactor. 3-7 vol. of the initial product are used per vol. of fresh olefin. |
