3446.  SPINDLER, H.  Hydrocarbon Fuel.  British Patent 255,493, July 18, 1925.  British Chem. Abs., 1927, B, p. 868.  Chem. Abs., vol. 21, 1927, p. 2784.

Hydrocarbon mixture resembling crude petroleum is made by subjecting CH4, alone or with added H—combining gases such as C2H2 and CO, to a decomposition temperature of 500°-950°, cooling t the dehydrogenated products, and then passing them over a catalytic material to produce higher hydrocarbons.  The successive stages of the process are carried out under pressure.  Describes an apparatus.  ZnCl2, active C, Al powder, Mg powder, and Fe scale treated with alkali hydroxide may be used as catalyst substances.
