PATENT 3425. ----- [SOCIÉTÉ L’AIR LIQUIDE.]. Catalytic Production of Alcohols. British Patent 306,512, Feb. 22, 1928. Chem. Abs., vol. 23, 1929, p. 4949. In the catalytic production of oxygenated organic compounds such as alcohols, an inert gas such as N2 or an excess of H2 is introduced into the gas mixture before reaction, and with a gas mixture of suitable composition, the production of NH3 may be combined with that of oxygenated organic compounds. Gives an example of the production of MeOH and N3 from a mixture of CO, N2, and H2. Describes an arrangement of apparatus. |
