PATENT 3417. ----- [SOCIÉTÉ L’AIR LIQUIDE.] Ammonia Synthesis. British Patent 307,039, Mar. 2, 1928. Chem. Abs., vol. 23, 1929, p. 5280. In NH3 synthesis or other exothermic catalytic gas reactions, preliminary purification of the gases is effected in a container surrounded by the catalyst for the main reaction so that indirect heat exchange occurs and the temperature of the purifying reactions is thus controlled: for example, in removing O2 and Co by catalytic hydrogenation from gases for NH3 synthesis. Describes an apparatus. See also British Patent 305,534 (abs. 3416). |
