PATENT 3332. ----- [SENSEL, E.E., AND STEWART, M.M.] (The Texas Co.). Supported Catalysts for the Conversion of Carbon Monoxide Containing Reactants. United States Patent 2,517,036, Aug. 1, 1950; appl. filed June 11, 1947, Serial No. 754,026; 3 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 9658. Effective catalyst for CO conversion is one in which a metal of the Fe group is supported on a material made up of equal proportions by weight of silica-stabilized alumina and uncalcined diatomaceous earth. The alumina contains 5 wt. % silica and 0.8% alkali, expressed as % by weight of Na oxide. Conventional promoters may be used. A composition is given in weight % as 32 Co : 3 magnesia : 1 thoria : 32 uncalcined diatomaceous earth : 32 alumina, stabilized with 5 silica. 5 United States patents cited. |
