Oct. 31, 1946, Serial No. 707,033; divided and this appl. Jan. 23, 1948, Serial No. 4,059; 6 claims ( Cl. 260-632). Preparation is given for a catalyst especially good for the Oxo synthesis. Silica hydrogel is impregnated with salts of Co, Th, and Cu, and the salts are decomposed at 400°-600° F. for 1-6 hr.
