PATENT

3251.----- .  [SCHARMANN, W. G. ]  (Standard Oil Development Co.)  Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,530,998, Nov. 21, 1950; appl. filed Dec. 28, 1945, Serial No. 637,693;  3 claims (Cl 260-449.6).  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 1751.

Fe catalysts from Fischer-Tropsch synthesis may be reactivated by treatment with an oxidizing gas, such as air and /or O2, followed by reduction with H2 or synthesis tail gas.  oxidation at 900°-1,500° F. may be carried to the point at which oxidation of the  metal component of the catalyst takes place. Reducing temperature is 800°-1,400° F.  Enough oxidizing gas is added to the reduction zone to generate by limited combustion of reducing gas sufficient heat to maintain the reduction temperature.  1 foreign patent and 10 United States patents cited.
