Lubricants and resins are obtained from C₂H₂ and olefins, particularly those olefins from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis or from the cracked products thereof.  The C₂H₂ is passed with or without pressure into the olefin mixture or with it over catalysts, which may consist of the halogenides of metals of groups 1-5 or active metals.
