PATENT 3226. SAFFORD, R. V. (Stanolind Oil & gas Co.) Conditioning iron Catalyst. United States Patent 2,533,694, Dec. 12, 1950’ appl. filed Feb. 1 1947, Serial No. 725,974; 4 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 2182. New or regenerated alkali-activated Fe Catalyst can be reduced in a fluidized state by treating the catalyst with a H2 rich gas 50°-300° F. above the synthesis temperature at 200-300 p.s.i. and a linear gas velocity of 1-3 ft. per sec. The reducing gas is passed upwardly through the catalyst in a dense, turbulent, suspended phase. The temperature is increased above 700° f., until there is a tendency for the catalyst to settle. Then the temperature is decreased until the catalyst is freely suspended. The temperature is increased or decreased to maintain the dense, turbulent, suspended phase. 5 United States patents cited.
