Larger amounts of paraffin are obtained in the synthetic  production of hydrocarbons  from CO and H₂ by extracting the paraffin from the catalysts more frequently than is necessary for the regeneration of the catalysts.  A mixture of gasoline and hydrocarbons of high boiling point are used as solvent.
