In the catalytic transformation of mixtures of CO and H2, the support for the catalyst used contains no soluble constituents, or the soluble constituents are extracted by solution or rendered insoluble. Suitable supports difficultly soluble in acids include BaSO4, carborundum, Cr2O3, Al2O3, and silicates such as steatite and refractory earth. Mg carbonates may be used as a support insoluble in alkalies. |
