Mixtures of sulfuric acid esters of high-molecular hydrocarbons (C₁₂-C₂₀) and paraffin hydrocarbons are separated by neutralization of the esters at high temperatures with very finely pulverized alkali hydroxides and again cooled, followed by extraction with low-boiling organic solvents.
