Mixtures of the primary products obtained by the hydrogenation of CO in the presence of Fe catalysts are treated with a polyhydric alcohol, an aromatic nitro-compound, an aromatic amino-compound, or an O compound of the furan group under such extraction conditious that the extractive mediums are liquid.
