3121.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Preparing of High-Octane Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent Appl. R 109,970, R 569, filed May 2, 1941 (Cl. 23 b-1.04)..  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 20, 5 pp.; TOM Reel 39, bag 3,453, item 1; TOM Reel 177, frames 1,620-1,624; Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 1, chap. 37, 1948, p91; vol. 2, chap. 77, 1948, p. 5.

Large yields of high-octane gasolines (motor octane=97) are obtained by catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons mixed with steam and isomerization of the cracking products.  the hydrocarbon mixture is composed of paraffinic hydrocarbons b. > 150° C. and low-boiling olefins (C4, C5, C6) that are readily isomerized together with the cracking products in the presence of phosphoric acid catalysts.  The ratio of the partial pressure of hydrocarbons to that of steam should be < 0.2.  Cracking is carried out in the presence of activated Al silicates at about 500° C. 3 examples.
