3084.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Recxovering Soap-Forming Fatty Acid Concentrates.]  German Patent Appl. R 115,143, R 658, filed Jan. 14, 1943 (Cl. 12 o-11).  FIAT Reel K-22, frames 1,214-1,215; FIAT Reel K-30, frames 7,996-7,998;  Pb 73,587;  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 3 pp.;  Meyer Transl. PC-S-II.  Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 2, ch. 104, 1949, p. 90.

In recovering soap-forming fatty acid concentrates by the alkali washing of CO-hydrogenation products, caustic-insoluble hydrocarbon-soap concentrates are separated mainly by cooling, by recycling, and by repeated utilization of the caustic liquor used for the  wash, if necessary with the addition of more alkali.  The wash treatment is carried out with an approximately 10% alkali solution and the latter is consumed up to about 1% free alkali.  For recovering carboxylic acids of definite molecular size, use is made of the corresponding fractions cut from the synthesis product.
