Synthetic lubricants, obtained through the condensation of olefinic hydrocarbon mixtures in the presence of AlCl₃ are treated for a longer time at about 170° with small amount of AlCl₃and elementary S. Finally the oil is subjected at about the same temperature to a treatment with a mixture of bleaching earth and ZnO or MgO, then heated for a longer time to about 260° and then finally vacuum-distilled in the usual manner, with a yield of about 97.1%
