      3019.  ------.  [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Process for Dechlorinating the  Chlorine Derivatives of High-Molecular Paraffin, Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent Appl. --, R 702, filed Jan. 27, 1944.  TOM Reel 37, bag 3,451, item 36, 2 pp.

Same method is claimed in this patent application as in R 701 (abs. 3018), except that the cataylst consists of finely divided metallic Cu or Fe or mixtures of them.  Example: A soft paraffin from the catalytic hydrogenation of CO having a solidification point of 25° and distilling 300°-400° was treated at 100° with gaseous Cl until the reaction product contained 26% Cl.  The chlorinated product was then passed at 350° and a space-time throughput of 0.2 over Cu turnings.  A yield was obtained of 98% olefinic hydrocarbon mixture having an I number of 116 and containing 0.7% Cl.
