            Process for converting masses that have a stiff consistency while containing a high % of H₂O, into thin threads by forcing the mass through plates provided with suitable-size holes, in which the mass before being fed to the holes, is subjected to gentle mechanical treatment directly in front of the holes.  The process is applicable to the Co-Th-kieselguhr catalysts for hydrocarbon synthesis.
