      3014  ------.  [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Process for Converting Aliphatic Hydrocarbons Into Aromatics.]  German Patent Appl. R 102,012, R 389, filed Apr. 2, 1938 (Cl. IV d-23 b).  TOM Reel 41, bag 2,744, item 14, 4 pp.

In converting aliphatic hydrocarbons into aromatic by the use of catalysts at high temperatures, the reaction is carried out under vacuum and/or with increase in temperature.  The life of the catalyst is progressively extended.  For example, the yield of aromatic when working at 0.1 atm. is the same as when working under 1 atm. and at 40° higher temperature.  Also by progressively raising the temperature from 420° to 540° a considerable increase in the life of the catalyst is obtained as well as a greater yield of aromatics.  The catalysts, consisting of equal amounts of Cr2O3 and ZnO on active C, is the same in either instance.
