      3006.  ------.  [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Process for Carrying Out the Catalytic Aromatization of Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent Appl. R 104,946, R 444, filed April 5, 1939 (Cl. IV d-23 b).  TOM Reel 41, bag 2,744, item 14, 4 pp., 4 fig.

Describes process and apparatus for maintaining the proper temperature conditions in a catalytic aromatization column so as to avoid the unequal conversion of the gaseous hydrocarbons passing through the catalyst space.  The improvement consists in the provision of a segmented heating jacket so arranged that the minimum reaction temperature is maintained at the point where the gases enter the catalyst space and progresses to a maximum at their exit, for example, from about 420° at the entrance to 520° at the exit.  By this means the too rapid conversion of the aliphatic hydrocarbons and the resulting deposition of C on the catalyst is prevented locally, and the conversion is spread about equally throughout the entire length of the catalyst space.
