PATENTS 2966. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.] [Magnesium and Cobalt Catalysts for the Conversion of Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen Mixtures.] French Patent 843,305, June 30, 1939. Chem. Abs., vol. 34, 1940, p. 6780. Method for the preparation of Mg and Co catalysts to be used in the synthesis of hydrocarbons, by precipitation from their nitrate and chloride solutions, consists in using a Mg solution containing a greater amount of Mg then those corresponding to the stoichiometric proportion between the Mg and the Co in the catalyst. Among Examples, (1) a solution containing 24.91 gm. Co in the form of nitrate and 3.97 gm. MgO in the form of nitrate is precipitated at the boiling temperature by means of 10% Na2CO2 solution; (2) Mg and Co catalyst is obtained by preparing a Mg (NO3)2 solution containing 150 gm. MgO in 2 1. H2O precipitating by means of a b. 10% NaCO3 solution (30.1), introducing 10 1. Co(NO3)2 solution containing 1 kg Co, adding the support material, and filtering while hot. |
