PATENTS 2957. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.] Lubricating Oils. British Patent 490,930. Aug. 22, 1938. Chem. Abs., vol. 33, 1939, p. 1139. In the production of these by the condensation with AlCl3 or like condensation agents of benzines rich in unsaturated hydrocarbons produced by the catalytic conversion of mixtures of H2 and CO, the condensation agent is used in a quantity insufficient for complete conversion in a single temperature stage and the condensation temperatures is raised gradually, continuously, or in stages during the conversion, whereas the conversion agent separated off after the reaction is completed is used for the conversion of a new charge of benzine commencing again in a low temperature. The conversion agent, which is reduced in effectiveness after 1 or more conversions, may be regenerated by adding small quantities of fresh agent. as described in British Patent 473, 935 (abs. 2956). The condensation temperature may be controlled by absorbing the heat generated in the reaction by adding neutral low-boiling hydrocarbons, for example. PrH. BuH, pentane. |
