2931.----- [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide] German Patent Appl. R 104,584, filed Feb. 20, 1939, (Cl. IV d-12 o).  PB Report 412, May 15, 1945; Auszüge deut. Patent-Anmeldungen, vol. 6, p. 297.

To make products of lower molecular weight and higher olefin content the hydrogenation of CO is carried out with recycling of the product gas after separation of condensables by cooling and charcoal absorption.  With a Co catalyst at 200°-230° C., a recycle ratio of 3:1 to 10:1 is preferred.  A  relatively high pressure, 3-10 atm. and high temp. 200°-230° C., can be used.  The resulting gas and gasoline is stated to be about 75% olefinic and 55% of the product is in the C2—C4 range.
