In the catalytic transformation of oxides of C to higher hydrocarbons by means of H₂, the nonvolatile reaction products are withdrawn from the catalytic mass at frequent intervals without appreciably increasing the reaction temperature above its original value and before these products have had time to have a harmful effect. The removal may be effected by means of H₂ or steam or solvents.
