Aldehydes formed in the CO Hydrogenation by action of water gas on olefinic hydrocarbon mixtures can be transformed into aldehydes of high molecular weight by condensation in presence of a strong caustic alkali solution at temperature of 50°-75°. After separation of the reaction products, the condensing agents can be used for further condensation.
