2876.----- [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Catalysts for Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  Indian Patent 22,776, Sept. 19, 1936;  appl. filed Apr. 15, 1936.  Chem. Zentralb., 1937, I, p. 427.

To reduce the too high initial activity of catalysts, they are pretreated with liquid or fused synthetic or natural hydrocarbons;  especially suitable are the hydrocarbons synthetically obtained by the aid of such catalysts. the catalyst can be broken up in a mixture of oil and benzine. the benzine evaporated so that it retains only the oil, or the reduced catalyst can be cooled in a stream of inert gas then treated with a hydrocarbon mixture.  Since it is heavily charged with gas, it will take up only a small amount of hydrocarbons.
