2803. ----- [ROELEN, O.] Production of Oxygenated Carbon Compounds.  United States Patent 2,327,066, Aug. 17, 1943; appl. filed Apr. 15, 1939, Serial No. 268,024; in Germany, Sept. 19, 1938:  8 claims  (Cl. 260-598).  British Chem. Abs., 1945, B, II, p. 331.  Chem. Abs., vol. 38, 1944, p. 550.

Process of producing organic carbonyl compounds that comprises passing a gaseous mixture of CO, H2, and an organic substance selected from the group consisting of the aliphatic and cyclic olefins at a temperature of about 40°-200° C. and under a pressure of about 20-300 atm. into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst, separating the compounds formed in the reaction and returning the remaining mixture into contact with the catalyst.  The catalysts are from the 8th group.  The products may be used for the production of fatty acids.
