2790.   ROBINSON BINDLEY PROCESSES, LTD.  [Catalytic Treatment of Carbonaceous Material.]  Czechoslovak Patent 64,264, Apr. 25, 1939; appl. filed Apr. 16, 1932, Chem. Zentralb., 1940, II, p. 1386.

The catalytic treatment of a gaseous hydrocarbon in the presence of H2 takes place on a catalyst that is treated with an easily hydrolysable ester, such as a methyl, ethyl, or propyl ester.  Example: 30 vol. % of pure CO and 70 vol. % of H2 is passed over a catalyst consisting of Co and Mn.  The reaction takes place at 208°-230°.  The yield amounts to 270 gm. of hydrocarbon oil from 2.83 m.3 of gas mixture.
