2785. -----[ROBERTS, G., JR.] (Stanolind Oil & Gas Co.).  Method for Producing reducing gas mixtures.  United States Patent 2,625,470, Jan. 13, 1953; appl. Filed Aug. 8, 1946, Serial No. 680,151; 2 claims (Cl. 48-196).

H-CO mixtures of desired ratio are obtained from hydrocarbon gases, CO2 and steam in suitable proportions in a multistage, multitemperature, multipressure reforming system.  Reforming of the hydrocarbon gases takes place in a series of stages, with each stage maintained at successively higher temperature level.  The stage of maximum temperature can be located in the radiant zone of a furnace and the prior stages of lower temperature located in the convection section of the furnace where they are heated by the hot combustion gas from the radiant zone.  13 United States patents cited.
