2774. ------. [RIBLETT, E. W.] (Hydrocarbon Research, Inc.). Generation of Synthesis Gas. United States Patent 2,491,518, Dec. 20, 1949; appl. filed Apr. 11, 1947, Serial No. 740,836; 5 claims (Cl. 252-373). Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 2206.

Normally, gaseous hydrocarbons are reacted in vapor phase with O2 (98% purity) in such proportions that the resulting synthesis gas contains less than 2.0% CO2 and less than 0.2% residual hydrocarbon. The temperature is 2,100°-2,500°, pressure 200-300 p. s. i. Contact time is preferably 3-10 sec. O2 content of the synthesis gas is rarely as much as 0.01% by volume. 2 United States patents cited.
